Our community faces new challenges that create a greater need for the work of the Y. Fortunately, where some see obstacles, we see the opportunity to make a difference. Building a stronger community is a cause that is important to me. That’s why I am proud to campaign for the YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties.
I give to the Y because I see every day how our various programs impact our Youth. Through our Safety Around Water program students in our school district are given the opportunity to learn about water safety at no cost to the schools or the families. We provide teens with a safe place to hang out with friends every Friday and Saturday night while being supervised by caring adults. Through our campaign we are able to provide Foster Care children with a free membership so that they may take swim lessons and participate in other activities that we offer our youth. The money that we raise provides all, regardless of financial status with the opportunity to dance, play, act, and create.
Our staff have witnessed students participating in swim lessons, dance lessons, theater classes, and visual arts classes for the first time, broadening their horizons through discovery, and expressing themselves in creative ways. This has been a transformational experience for all of us.
Thank you for your generous contribution.
