Our community faces new challenges that create a greater need for the work of the Y. Fortunately, where some see obstacles, we see the opportunity to make a difference. Building a stronger community is a cause that is important to me. That’s why I am proud to be an employee and volunteer for the YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties.
Every donated dollar goes directly to financial assistance and subsidized programs:
Before and After School Child Care | 1 in 3 Participants receive Financial Assistance | 1 in 4 families are single parent households.
We have over 2100 children enrolled in our Before and After School programs this school year. As the nation's leading child care program, we believe children should have a place to explore their interests and talents. YMCA staff provide activities focused on academic enhancement and social growth. Children connect with others to build lasting relationships, develop a sense of belonging, and cultivate leadership skills . In our care, children receive:
Over 1,500 children in foster care receive free membership.
Over 600 children participated in Summer Day Camps last summer, creating spaces for children to experience belonging, achievement and creating relationships. 85% of children improved their reading level through six weeks in the YMCA summer Learning Loss Prevention program.
3rd Grade Swim | Safety Around Water
A program supported entirely by the Annual Campaign that focuses on safety around water. Free swimming for all 3rd graders in all elementary schools.
At the Y we take on the challenges that most adversely impact kids and families. We help ensure kids are safe, learning and active when not in school, teach healthy habits and give people the chance to strengthen their community through volunteering. Everything the Y does is in service of building a better you. For a better community. For a better country. The Y.™ For a better us.™
Thank you again for your generous contribution to the Y.
