I have had the privilege to serve as the Arts Director at the Morgan Family Y for the past five years. I love my job and am inspired everyday by opportunities the Y provides for people of all ages to explore their creativity in a safe place. As a life-long student of the arts, I firmly believe in the life changing power of artistic expression.
From a three year old artist discovering the beauty of the color green to pre-teen dancers receiving scholarships to attend summer dance programs to adults finding community and nurturing their spirits through artistic expression, I have personally witnessed the magic that happens in our arts programs everyday. I have seen countless students develop not only in technical skill but in self-confidence and poise because of the unique opportunities our arts programs provide.
At the Morgan Family Y, we see approximately 700 students each week in our dance, piano, musical theatre, and visual arts classes. Of these 700 students, 30% (or roughly 200) would not be able to participate were it not for our financial assistance program.
$21 provides one student a month of dance or musical theatre classes; $25 provides one student a month of visual art classes; $30 provides one month of piano lessons.
$168 provides one student an entire year of dance or musical theatre classes; $200 provides a year of visual art classes; $240 provides a year of piano lessons.
I hope you'll join me in supporting the spiritual, mental, and physical health of our community!
